Sample Track Meet & Information

This is a sample of what a track meet will be like. The order of the running events might be different based on which group is running the meet. You should arrive early to any meet to register. For local meets (free) there will be a table(s) with cards that will be given to each child and pinned onto their shirt. After their event, the result will be written on the card and the card taken from the child and given to the score keeper (do not lose your card). Some meets charge per event ($7) or per meet ($25), numbers are examples only. To register for these meets you might be required to go to a website called CoachO.com, look up the place and date holding the event and then pick which event(s) and pay. We will provide details if/when known prior to any meet when possible.

2019 USATF Age Grouping - Older age groups not part of Jr Raiders

Link for USATF age information. Note that some meets will not always include events for all age groups or will have a age limit in place which we have no control of. Some events such as hurdles will always be restricted by age.

The age divisions for competition year2016are as follows:

Age DivisionYear of Birth
8 & Under2011+*
9 - 102009-2010
11 - 122007-2008
13 - 142005-2006
15 - 162003-2004
17 - 132001-2002**
** Jr Raiders only goes to 8th grade.

The events are broken out by girl/boy and age. Some events (distance runs) might have a mix of runners of all ages but they will be judged by their age/sex, not the actual order of finish, i.e. a 10-year-old can be first in their group but come in 8th across the finish line behind older runners. Always listen and be aware of running events, if you miss your group there are no make-ups! Field events go on all during the meet, you might hear an age group called for field events but that is just to help the flow when there are lots of kids. See notes at bottom for reminders. When in doubt, run first or double check with a coach. Events can take some time to get through especially for the short distance runs where almost everyone participates.

If there is a meet, 5k or some other running event on an off day or time feel free to go on your own and wear our uniform. Tell us how you did, take pictures and we’ll work on getting them announced. At the youth level meets require some driving and distance which we feel is a burden on the vast majority of families. That said if you hear or see information on meets feel free to let us know

Sample Meet activities and order. Running and Field events are done concurrently. Running events take priority as they are run at specific times. Field events are held for most of the meet, when in doubt, Go RUN!
