It’s about all of us! The Future and the past.

In 2023 the Hillsborough Dukes Football and Cheer organization and Hillsborough JR Raiders  Sports, Inc. (JR Raiders) merged to form one unified youth sports organization. Both organizations have a similar mission, to provide sports fundamentals and skill development to the youth in Hillsborough and surrounding towns. The merging of these two successful organizations will take the Hillsborough youth sports programs to the next level. The two newly merged Football and Cheer programs agreed to the merger as the Duke - Raiders while the other sports will continue as they are known. In order to capture what the organization supports, the Board of Trustees has agreed to a DBA of Hillsborough Youth Sports. The teams under football and cheerleading will take on Boro as their identity representing Hillsborough Township, NJ.

The parent organization is managed by a 6 person Board of Trustees composed of members from both organizations.  Oversight of each sport is managed by its sports directors. The organization offers organized youth activities in flag and tackle football, cheerleading, track & field, girls lacrosse and field hockey for youth in grades Kindergarten through 8th. We are committed to teaching the children the skills they need to have fun playing in a safe environment. Our players learn and apply the principles of sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and dedication. Our philosophy is that all children need to get into the game to learn and have fun.  We emphasize the fundamentals and progression of skill development, which will prepare them to participate at higher levels of competition as they progress through the different levels within their sport of choice. The dedication and hard work of volunteers is a critical component to making this a successful program.  We welcome those looking to assist with coaching, directing, being a team parent, trainer or just lending a hand. See our contact page for ways to reach the appropriate person or area of interest.

Announcement December 13, 2022

We are pleased to announce the Hillsborough Dukes and Hillsborough JR Raiders Youth Sports programs will be merging effective January 2023. Both organizations have a long history of success providing the youth of Hillsborough opportunities to grow, learn and achieve as student athletes.

As you may know, the Hillsborough Dukes were established in 1967 offering Pop Warner cheer and football to children in Hillsborough and surrounding towns. The JR Raiders was founded in 1992, offering an independent recreational youth organization offering football, cheerleading and later, field hockey, girls’ lacrosse, and track & field. Having similar missions of providing sports fundamentals and skill development, it only makes sense that these two youth sports organizations join forces and bring together coaches, volunteers, and a new board of trustees.

This merger will provide strong unified cheer, football, girls’ lacrosse, field hockey, and track & field programs for Hillsborough families, as well as families in surrounding towns. With the efforts put forth by past and present board members and the support of local businesses, all kids have an opportunity to play sports, making Hillsborough a great place to raise a family.
